The Ghana Police Service has deployed over 2,000 personnel across the country as part of enhanced security arrangements for this year’s Easter festivities.
In a press release dated April 2, 2026, the Service said the deployment is aimed at ensuring a safe, peaceful, and incident-free celebration, particularly in high-traffic areas such as the Kwahu enclave.
According to the Police, officers have been stationed at key locations including event grounds, recreational centres, tourist sites, and other areas expected to record large gatherings.
“Police personnel have been deployed across all key locations across the country especially within the Kwahu enclave including event grounds, recreational centres, and known tourist sites as well as other areas expected to experience high human and vehicular traffic,” the statement said.
The Service added that patrols have been intensified, with operational teams assigned to major routes leading to and from Kwahu to enhance security and ensure smooth movement.
“The Service has also intensified patrols and operational teams have been detailed along major routes leading to and from Kwahu to enhance security and ensure public safety,” it noted.
Motor Traffic and Transport Department (MTTD) officers have also been deployed to manage traffic and minimise congestion throughout the festive period.
The Police further disclosed that intelligence-led operations have been activated nationwide to detect and respond swiftly to any criminal activities.
“Additionally, intelligence operations have been activated across the country to prevent and respond swiftly to any criminal activity,” the release stated.
The Service urged the public to cooperate with security personnel and comply with safety directives, particularly on the roads.
“Motorists are urged to observe road traffic regulations, avoid excessive speeding, refrain from drunk driving and take directions from our officers to ensure safety on our roads,” it cautioned.
The Ghana Police Service reiterated its commitment to maintaining law and order throughout the Easter celebrations and wished the public a safe and enjoyable holiday.
