Ghana’s Black Stars have been ranked 24th in the official final standings of the expanded 48-team FIFA World Cup 2026, placing them midway in the tournament rankings following the conclusion of the competition in the United States, Canada and Mexico.
The Black Stars finished just behind DR Congo, who placed 23rd, and ahead of Ecuador, which finished 25th, according to FIFA’s final tournament standings.
Among the African representatives, Morocco emerged as the continent’s highest-ranked team, finishing 7th overall.
They were followed by Egypt (15th), Côte d’Ivoire (19th) and DR Congo (23rd), with Ghana securing the fifth-best finish among African nations.
Ghana also finished ahead of fellow African representatives South Africa (26th), Algeria (30th), Senegal (31st), Cabo Verde (32nd) and Tunisia (47th).
At the top of the standings, Spain were crowned world champions after defeating Argentina 1-0 after extra time in the final.
England claimed third place, while France finished fourth.
According to FIFA, Ghana progressed from a challenging group that included England and Croatia, advancing to the Round of 32 as one of the tournament’s best third-placed teams before being eliminated by Colombia.
The 24th-place finish provides the Black Stars with a platform to build on as attention shifts to future international competitions and preparations for upcoming continental and global tournaments.
