The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has announced the official dates for the 2026/27 Ghana Premier League season, with the new campaign set to kick off from September 4 to 7, 2026.
According to the GFA, the season will conclude between May 28 and 31, 2027, in line with the FIFA calendar to ensure better planning, efficient scheduling and the timely completion of the league.
The Association said the fixture calendar has been designed to keep the majority of matches on weekends, with midweek games reserved mainly for postponed fixtures.
The announcement provides clubs with a clear timeline to prepare for the new season following the GFA Congress scheduled for August 20, allowing teams to complete their pre-season programmes before the league begins.
Defending champions Medeama SC will begin the campaign aiming to retain their title against the country’s top-flight clubs.
The new season will also feature three newly promoted sides—Debibi United, FC AshantiGold 04 and Port City FC—who secured qualification from the Division One League and will be making their mark in the Premier League.
The GFA reaffirmed its commitment to delivering a well-organised and competitive league that meets the expectations of clubs, players, supporters and stakeholders throughout the 2026/27 season.
