President John Mahama has officially signed the Ghana Investment Promotion Authority (GIPA) Act into law, replacing the former Ghana Investment Promotion Centre Act as part of efforts to strengthen the country’s investment landscape.

The new legislation seeks to make Ghana a more competitive destination for investment by introducing a more efficient regulatory system that reduces administrative bottlenecks and speeds up the process of establishing and running businesses. It also provides stronger legal assurances for both local and international investors, creating a more secure and predictable environment for long-term investments.

Beyond attracting foreign capital, the Act broadens the Authority’s responsibilities by enhancing its ability to promote, coordinate and oversee investment activities across the country. It also prioritises the growth of Ghanaian-owned businesses, giving them greater support to expand, compete and play a bigger role in driving economic development.
