An Accra Circuit Court has remanded a 54-year-old pastor, Hammond Love, into custody over allegations of vehicle theft and document forgery involving a Honda Civic valued at GH¢180,000.
The accused denied the charges when he made his appearance in court and is to remain in custody for two weeks as the case proceeds.
According to the prosecution, led by Police Chief Inspector Ebenezer Teye Okuffo, the complainant, Daniel Baidoo, a businessman operating at SCC Weija, became acquainted with the accused in October 2025.
The court was told that the pastor presented himself as a car dealer and proposed a transaction in which the complainant would swap his Honda Civic and pay an additional GH¢30,000 in exchange for a Range Rover.
Prosecutors say the arrangement took a different turn on November 7, 2025, when the accused, together with two others, allegedly seized the Range Rover from the complainant.
Investigations later uncovered that the Honda Civic at the centre of the deal had allegedly been sold off for GH¢150,000 after documents relating to the vehicle were falsified.
In a statement to police, the accused is said to have admitted involvement in the offence and assured authorities he would rectify the situation, but he reportedly failed to honour that commitment.
He has since been remanded by the court pending the next hearing.
