Vice President Prof. Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang has joined Ghanaians in the nationwide two-day clean-up exercise, calling for collective responsibility in maintaining a clean and healthy environment.
The Vice President participated in the exercise at the Nungua Lorry Station in Accra, where she led efforts to clear waste and promote sanitation awareness among residents and commuters.
The exercise, initiated as part of government’s response to sanitation challenges and the need to restore communities after recent flooding incidents, is aimed at cleaning public spaces, clearing choked drains, and reducing environmental health risks.
Prof. Opoku-Agyemang urged citizens to take ownership of sanitation efforts, stressing that keeping Ghana clean should not be left to government alone but requires the active participation of individuals, communities, and institutions.
She encouraged Ghanaians to make sanitation a daily responsibility beyond organised clean-up exercises, noting that a clean environment contributes to improved public health and safer communities.
The national exercise brought together government officials, security agencies, local authorities, civil society groups, and residents across the country.
