Cabinet is expected to resume deliberations on the government’s position paper on the review of the 1992 Constitution after last Friday’s meeting was deferred because of the nationwide National Clean-Up exercise.
Government sources say most of the document has already been considered, with only a handful of proposed amendments awaiting Cabinet’s decision before it can be formally approved.
After endorsement, the Attorney General’s Department and legal advisers will align the position paper with recommendations contained in the Constitutional Review Committee’s report. The consolidated documents will then be forwarded to the Constitutional Review Implementation Committee to guide the next stage of the reform process.
The move is expected to pave the way for government to begin implementing proposed constitutional changes aimed at strengthening Ghana’s governance framework.
