Ghanaian sports administrator Farida Iddriss has been elected Secretary-General of Africa Aquatics Zone II, the regional body responsible for aquatic sports development in West and Central Africa.
Farida was elected on Saturday, August 29, 2026, during an election held in Dakar, Senegal, with delegates from 20 countries participating in the voting process.
Her election places her in a key leadership position within the Zone, where she will be responsible for coordinating its activities and working with national federations to promote the growth and development of aquatic sports across the region.
She will also collaborate with member federations and the leadership of Africa Aquatics to implement programmes, strengthen cooperation and advance the interests of aquatic sports in member countries.
Farida brings considerable experience to the position, having previously served in leadership roles within Zone II and at the continental level.
She has also served as a member of the World Aquatics Bureau since 2022, further strengthening her credentials in international aquatic sports administration.
Her election adds another significant leadership responsibility to her career and gives Ghana a prominent voice in the administration and development of aquatic sports across West and Central Africa.
