The Ghana Police Service has arrested 24 suspects during a coordinated intelligence-led operation across several communities in the Ashanti Region as part of efforts to combat drug-related offences and other criminal activities.
The operation, carried out by the Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Special Operations Team in collaboration with the Ashanti Regional Police Command, targeted locations including Kodie, Apagya, Dechemso, Old Tafo Ahenbronum, Ahodwo and Abofour.
Police said the exercise focused on suspected drug peddlers and other criminal elements operating within the affected communities. Those arrested comprise 21 men and three women. One of the suspects, Richmond Okyere, 49, was allegedly found with a pump-action gun.

A search conducted during the operation led to the retrieval of two unregistered vehicles, a Mercedes-Benz saloon car, an unregistered motorcycle, a pump-action gun with ammunition, suspected cannabis and other suspected narcotic substances, tramadol tablets, narcotics processing materials, locally made toffees believed to contain narcotic substances, electronic items, suspected aphrodisiacs, cash and other exhibits believed to be linked to criminal activity.

Police said all the suspects remain in custody to assist with investigations, adding that the recovered items have been retained as evidence.
“Upon the conclusion of investigations, suspects found culpable will be put before the court.”
The Police Service reaffirmed its commitment to sustained intelligence-led operations to tackle violent crime and drug-related offences across the country.
It also appealed to the public to support law enforcement efforts by volunteering credible information on criminal activities.
“The Police encourage members of the public to continue supporting law enforcement efforts by providing credible information on criminal activities through the nearest Police Station or the designated emergency channels.”
