The Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC) has apprehended ten individuals suspected of engaging in narcotics-related offences following a targeted security operation in Cape Coast.
The coordinated exercise focused on communities identified through intelligence as centres of suspected drug activity, including Pedu, Victoria Road, the University of Cape Coast (UCC) enclave, Downtown, and surrounding areas.
Authorities say the operation was designed to disrupt the distribution and use of illicit substances while improving safety within the affected communities.
Searches conducted during the exercise resulted in the recovery of items believed to be linked to drug offences, with officials confirming that the suspects, made up of both men and women aged between 24 and 55, are currently in custody.
NACOC stated that the recovered exhibits will be subjected to forensic analysis to aid ongoing investigations.
Describing the exercise as part of its broader campaign against organised drug crime, the Commission reaffirmed its resolve to weaken illegal narcotics networks and limit the circulation of prohibited substances nationwide.
“The suspects are assisting with ongoing investigations and will be processed in accordance with the law,” NACOC said, while appealing to the public to continue sharing credible information that will support the fight against drug-related crime.
