Ghana Water Limited (GWL) has apologised to customers for temporary interruptions in water supply across parts of the country following the nationwide power system disturbance that affected electricity supply.
In a statement, the company said the ongoing challenges on the Ghana Grid Company Limited’s (GRIDCo) National Interconnected Transmission System have significantly disrupted the operations of several of its water treatment plants and pumping stations.
According to GWL, the power outages have forced many of its water production systems, which depend on electricity from the national grid, to shut down, making it impossible to produce and distribute potable water to customers in the affected areas.
The company described the situation as beyond its control and expressed regret for the inconvenience caused to households, businesses and other consumers.
“Ghana Water Limited sincerely apologises to all affected customers for the inconvenience caused by this unfortunate situation,” the statement said.
Management assured the public that technical teams are on standby and will immediately resume water production and distribution once stable electricity supply is restored.
The company added that it is working closely with GRIDCo and other key institutions in the power sector while closely monitoring developments to ensure that normal water supply resumes as quickly as possible.
GWL also appealed to customers to remain patient and understanding as efforts continue to restore both electricity and water services, promising to provide regular updates as the situation evolves.
