The Minister for Roads and Highways, Kwame Governs Agbodza, has announced that government has fully settled all outstanding payments owed to the contractor working on the Tema Motorway expansion project, clearing a key hurdle that had affected progress on the works.
The Tema Motorway, a vital transport corridor linking Accra to the port city of Tema, remains one of the country’s most strategic infrastructure assets, facilitating the movement of goods and services and supporting trade within Ghana and across the West African sub-region.
Speaking on the floor of Parliament, the Minister assured lawmakers that government has honoured all financial obligations under the contract and that no arrears remain outstanding.
He explained that the payment was part of broader efforts to remove financial bottlenecks that often delay infrastructure delivery and slow construction timelines.
With the debt now cleared, Mr. Agbodza urged the contractor to intensify work on the project and ensure visible progress on the ground.
He emphasized that government expects an accelerated pace of execution following the resolution of the funding challenges.
