Popular Ghanaian actor and comedian Akwasi Boadi, popularly known as Akrobeto, provided an amusing moment during the 2026 National Science and Maths Quiz (NSMQ) grand finale after failing to appear when his promised assistance was needed.
Akrobeto was present at the grand finale and had pledged to help contestants solve the Round Three “Problem of the Day”.
However, when none of the three finalist schools could correctly solve the question, the Quiz Mistress, Professor Elsie Kaufmann, turned to the audience for assistance.
Akrobeto, who had earlier offered to help with the problem, was nowhere to be found in the audience at the crucial moment.
The incident provided a light-hearted moment during an otherwise tense final contest involving Accra Academy, St Augustine’s College and Presbyterian Boys’ Secondary School (PRESEC).
In Round Three, both Accra Academy and St Augustine’s College failed to score any of the 10 available points, while PRESEC managed to secure four points.
PRESEC eventually emerged victorious in the 2026 NSMQ grand finale with a total of 40 points, beating its two competitors to claim the coveted title.
Akrobeto’s disappearance after his earlier pledge to solve the “Problem of the Day” quickly became one of the memorable comic moments from this year’s grand finale.
