The High-Level Committee of Experts established by President John Dramani Mahama to prepare for Ghana’s 2027 African Union (AU) Chairmanship has completed its mandate and presented five reports to the President.
The reports were formally handed over to President Mahama at the Presidency on Friday, providing recommendations on a strategy document, priority pillars and a work programme to guide Ghana’s leadership of the continental body.
The committee’s Chair said it was an honour to present the reports and brief the President on the key areas covered by the committee’s work.
The preparatory process is expected to provide a strategic framework for President Mahama’s tenure as AU Chair when he assumes the position in January 2027.
The committee expressed confidence that the President’s tenure would be transformative and impactful, citing the extensive preparatory work undertaken and his vision for Africa.
It said the reports were intended to support Ghana’s efforts to contribute meaningfully to continental development and advance priorities that would benefit African countries.
The committee members expressed gratitude for the opportunity to serve Ghana and Africa through the assignment.
They also conveyed their best wishes to President Mahama ahead of his assumption of the AU Chairmanship in January 2027.
