President John Dramani Mahama has signed the Ghana Investment Promotion Authority (GIPA) Act into law, replacing the Ghana Investment Promotion Centre (GIPC) Act in a move aimed at strengthening Ghana’s investment climate and enhancing the country’s competitiveness as an investment destination.
The new legislation is expected to modernise Ghana’s investment promotion framework by streamlining regulatory processes, reducing bureaucratic bottlenecks and creating a more business-friendly environment for both domestic and foreign investors.
Government says the GIPA Act forms part of broader efforts to improve the ease of doing business, attract increased capital inflows and stimulate private sector-led economic growth.
The law also seeks to position Ghana as a preferred investment hub in West Africa by introducing reforms designed to make investment facilitation more efficient and responsive to the needs of investors.
the Chief Executive Officer(CEO), Simon Majie together with the Minister for Trade and Agric-Business Development, Elizabeth Agyare believe the new legal framework will support job creation, promote industrialisation and strengthen investor confidence by providing a more transparent and predictable regulatory regime.
