The Garu District Health Directorate has received a pickup vehicle from the Ghana Health Service to support healthcare delivery across the district.
The vehicle was secured following an intervention by the Member of Parliament for Garu, Dr. Thomas Winsum Anabah, who said the initiative was aimed at strengthening the capacity of health officials to carry out their duties effectively.
Dr. Anabah expressed appreciation to the Director-General of the Ghana Health Service and the Regional Director for supporting the request and providing the vehicle to the district.
He also appealed to health directors who have received vehicles to ensure they are used strictly for their intended purpose.
The MP further called for cooperation among neighbouring districts, particularly those that do not yet have dedicated vehicles, suggesting that districts could share available vehicles when necessary.
He urged health authorities to adopt a “co-sharing” arrangement to ensure that the absence of a vehicle in one district does not prevent health officials from carrying out essential activities.
According to Dr. Anabah, making the vehicles available for healthcare-related activities across districts would help maximise their impact and improve service delivery.
The donation is expected to strengthen the Garu District Health Directorate’s ability to support health facilities, conduct outreach activities and respond to healthcare needs across the district.
