The leadership of the Central Regional Patriotic Movement has petitioned the National Executive Committee (NEC) of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), calling for the immediate expulsion of former Assin Central MP, Hon. Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, over what it describes as sustained public attacks on the party.
In a petition dated June 19, 2026, and submitted to the party’s national leadership, the group accused Mr. Agyapong of repeatedly making statements that they claim undermine the unity, integrity and electoral fortunes of the NPP.
According to the petitioners, the former presidential aspirant has, over the period from 2023 to date, engaged in what they describe as a pattern of public criticism and remarks against party leadership and decisions.
Among the concerns raised is Mr. Agyapong’s commentary on the Afari Military Hospital project, where he is alleged to have questioned the then government’s handling of the project and made claims the petitioners describe as misleading and damaging to the party’s reputation.
The group also referenced comments made by the former MP following the NPP’s defeat in the 2024 general elections, in which he reportedly criticised the party’s handling of its concession process and suggested alternative approaches.
They further cited allegations that Mr. Agyapong had accused party leadership of neglecting grassroots supporters, as well as remarks in which he reportedly warned that he would “spill the beans” if provoked, statements the petitioners say threaten party cohesion.
Additionally, the petition raised concerns over past internal disagreements involving Mr. Agyapong and other party executives, which they argue demonstrate conduct inconsistent with party discipline.
The Central Regional Patriotic Movement is therefore urging the NEC to remove Mr. Agyapong from the party without granting him a hearing, issue a public statement confirming the decision, and caution other members against similar conduct.
