The Ghana Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) has launched an investigation into allegations of mistreatment involving passengers travelling on a KLM flight from Amsterdam to Accra after videos of stranded travellers circulated widely on social media.
In a press release issued on Sunday, June 28, 2026, the Authority said it had taken note of the videos showing passengers expressing frustration over their alleged treatment by the airline in Amsterdam in connection with Flight KL059, which was scheduled to arrive in Accra on Saturday, June 27, 2026.
The GCAA stated that it is investigating the circumstances surrounding the reported tarmac delay and the alleged poor treatment of some passengers as part of its mandate to safeguard consumer rights within Ghana’s aviation industry.
According to the Authority, it will engage KLM and all other relevant stakeholders to establish the facts surrounding the incident before determining any appropriate regulatory action.
“The Authority will engage all relevant stakeholders and communicate the outcome of the investigation, where appropriate, in accordance with established regulatory procedures,” the statement said.
The GCAA reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring the safety, security, and protection of air passengers while promoting high standards of service delivery across the aviation sector.
