Chief Justice Paul Baffoe-Bonnie has praised the Minerals Income Investment Fund (MIIF) for its efforts to create sustainable value from Ghana’s mineral resources.
The Chief Justice made the remarks during a tour of MIIF on Wednesday, September 2, where he engaged management on the Fund’s mandate, investment activities and efforts to maximise the long-term value of Ghana’s mineral wealth.
The engagement focused on MIIF’s role in managing mineral revenues and making strategic investments across the mining value chain, as well as opportunities beyond the traditional management of mineral royalties.
Speaking during the tour, MIIF Chief Executive Officer, Justina Nelson, highlighted the Fund’s broader investment mandate and its focus on creating sustainable value from Ghana’s mineral resources.
She also highlighted MIIF’s broader investment mandate, which extends beyond royalty management to investments across the mining value chain and alternative investment opportunities.
Mrs. Nelson further stressed the importance of collaboration between MIIF and institutions such as the Judiciary in strengthening governance, accountability and investor confidence within the mining sector.
“Collaboration with institutions such as the Judiciary was important to strengthening governance, accountability and investor confidence within the mining sector.”
The engagement also touched on the proposed development of specialised judicial mechanisms to deal with cases arising from specific sectors, including mining.
Both institutions expressed their commitment to continued engagement and knowledge-sharing in areas of mutual interest.
The engagement comes as MIIF continues to position itself not only as a manager of mineral revenues but also as a strategic investor focused on maximising the long-term value of Ghana’s mineral wealth.
