The Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC) has arraigned five students of Central University before court over allegations that they produced and sold cannabis-infused food and beverages.
Director-General of NACOC, Brigadier General Maxwell Obuba Mantey, disclosed that the students were processed and brought before the court following their arrest.
According to the Commission, the suspects are accused of manufacturing and selling a range of cannabis-infused products, including ice cream, sobolo, toffees and eggs.
NACOC said the prosecution forms part of its ongoing efforts to crack down on the production, distribution and sale of illegal narcotic substances in the country.
The Commission reaffirmed its commitment to intensifying the fight against drug trafficking and drug-related offences through sustained enforcement operations and the prosecution of offenders, while urging the public to remain vigilant and support efforts to curb the proliferation of illicit drugs.
