Minister for Government Communications Felix Ofosu Kwakye has rejected reports that construction of the Asuokor Bridge in the Bono Region has been abandoned, saying work on the project is progressing.
The Minister responded to the reports on Tuesday, August 18, 2026, by sharing photographs of activities at the project site on Facebook.
According to Ofosu Kwakye, the images provide evidence that construction is continuing despite claims suggesting otherwise.
“The President’s promise is being kept!” he stated.
The Minister’s response follows renewed public attention to the project after claims that construction had stalled were circulated and amplified by The Fourth Estate.
Rather than issue a lengthy rebuttal, Ofosu Kwakye used photographs from the site to demonstrate that construction activity was taking place.
The images show ongoing work around the bridge, although the Minister did not provide details on the project’s current completion level, expenditure or an expected date for completion.
The Asuokor Bridge is located in the Jaman North District of the Bono Region, where road connectivity has been a longstanding concern for residents.
Previous reports have highlighted difficulties associated with road access in communities around Asuokor and neighbouring areas, particularly during periods of heavy rainfall.
The status of the bridge has therefore attracted attention from residents and other stakeholders who are interested in seeing the project completed.
While the latest photographs indicate activity at the site, they do not, on their own, establish how far the project has progressed or whether construction is proceeding according to its original schedule.
Those details remain unclear from the Minister’s latest update.
Ofosu Kwakye’s intervention nevertheless provides the government’s response to the abandonment claims, with the Minister insisting that the administration remains committed to the project.
The government’s position is now that the project is active, while further details on its timeline and completion remain to be provided.
