The Energy Commission of Ghana has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Global South Utilities (GSU), a resources investment company based in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, to deepen cooperation and investment opportunities in the energy sector.
The agreement was signed in Accra by the Acting Executive Secretary of the Energy Commission, Ms. Adwoa Serwaa Bondzie, and the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of GSU, Mr. Ali Al Shimmari, following approval by the Minister for Energy and Green Transition, Dr. John Abdulai Jinapor.
The signing ceremony was witnessed by the UAE Ambassador to Ghana, His Excellency Dr. Abdulla Almandoos, and formed part of activities surrounding a high-level visit to the Presidency by a UAE delegation led by Sheikh Shakhboot bin Nahyan Al Nahyan, UAE Minister of State.
Under the MoU, the Energy Commission and GSU will explore areas of collaboration including technical cooperation, knowledge sharing and investment initiatives aimed at supporting Ghana’s transition towards a more sustainable energy future.
Ms. Bondzie said the partnership would help identify practical areas of cooperation that can deliver measurable benefits to Ghana’s energy sector and contribute to the country’s long-term development goals.
Mr. Al Shimmari reaffirmed GSU’s commitment to supporting Ghana’s energy transition agenda and promoting investments that contribute to economic growth.
