The Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) has interdicted five officers of its Customs Division pending the outcome of an internal investigation into alleged procedural breaches linked to a recent transit cargo operation.

In a statement, the Authority announced that the officers have been interdicted “with immediate effect” following preliminary findings from an enforcement operation conducted on February 18, 2026. The operation involved a consignment of transit cargo declared for onward movement to Niger.

According to the statement, the exercise “revealed discrepancies in documentation and compliance with established transit procedures, prompting a detailed internal review.”

The GRA indicated that initial assessments point to “potential procedural breaches requiring further independent and comprehensive examination.”

The ongoing investigation is expected to establish the full facts, including the extent of individual involvement and any departures from established Customs protocols.

The Authority added that additional officers may be invited to assist with the probe where necessary, and assured that “upon conclusion of the process, appropriate administrative action will be taken in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.”

Reaffirming its stance, the GRA stated that the interdiction reflects its commitment to protecting national revenue and strengthening accountability within its operations.

“GRA wishes to assure all stakeholders and the general public that this action reflects a commitment to protect national revenue, growth of local industries and promote overall economic development,” the statement said.

The Authority further emphasized its resolve to ensure that “all revenue collection and enforcement procedures are executed with the highest standards of professionalism and accountability.”
