The National Officers Elections Committee (NOEC) of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has extended by two days the period for aspirants to file completed nomination forms for the party’s 2026 National Officers Elections.
Under the original timetable, filing of nomination forms was scheduled to close on Thursday, August 27, 2026.
The period has now been extended to Saturday, August 29.
In a statement issued on Friday, August 21, NOEC Chairman, Hon. Frederick Opare-Ansah, said the decision followed the significant level of interest in the elections and was intended to facilitate an orderly filing process.
The extension, he said, would also ensure that all aspirants are given adequate opportunity to submit and have their nomination documents verified.
According to the Committee, 44 aspirants had picked up nomination forms as of the close of nomination activities on Thursday, August 20, which marked the fourth day of the nomination period.
Two days remained for aspirants to pick up nomination forms at the time of the announcement.
The Committee stressed that the extension of the filing period would not affect the commencement of vetting or any other subsequent milestones on the election timetable.
Vetting of aspirants is therefore scheduled to begin on Monday, August 31, and continue through September 3, 2026.
The revised timetable provides for the opening and closing of nominations from August 17 to 22, filing of nomination forms from August 23 to 29, vetting from August 31 to September 3, and publication of vetting results on September 5.
The appeals process is scheduled for September 6 and 7, followed by consideration by the National Executive Committee (NEC) and National Council (NC) on September 10.
The notice of poll is expected on September 14, ahead of the election of National Officers on October 3, 2026.
NOEC reaffirmed its commitment to conducting the elections in a fair, transparent, orderly and credible manner while ensuring equal opportunity for all aspirants to participate in the process.
The Committee also appealed to aspirants, their supporters, party members and the media to cooperate with the electoral process.
