The Youth Employment Agency (YEA) has announced a new initiative aimed at equipping 2,000 young Ghanaians with skills in cloud computing, Artificial Intelligence (AI) and cybersecurity as part of efforts to prepare the country’s workforce for the digital economy.
The programme forms part of a partnership between the YEA and the Ghana Digital Centres Limited, which seeks to provide industry-relevant digital training and create employment opportunities for young people in emerging technology sectors.
Under the agreement, beneficiaries will receive training in high-demand fields including cloud technologies, AI, cybersecurity and other digital competencies that are increasingly shaping the global job market.
The initiative is expected to improve participants’ employability and position them for opportunities both locally and internationally.
The Chief Executive Officer of YEA, Malik Basintale, said the programme is part of broader government efforts to tackle youth unemployment by aligning skills development with the needs of the rapidly evolving digital economy.
He said the training is also expected to support Ghana’s digital transformation agenda and build a pipeline of technology talent for businesses and institutions.
According to him, the initiative comes at a time when demand for professionals with expertise in AI, cloud computing and cybersecurity continues to grow globally, creating new opportunities for digitally skilled workers.
