Dancehall musician Shatta Wale has described his journey in the Ghanaian music industry as one marked by struggles, conflict and perseverance, saying his career was not built through an easy path.
Speaking in an interview on Friday, August 28, Shatta Wale acknowledged that artists have different experiences and routes to success, but said his own career was shaped by challenges.
“Well, everybody and their experiences,” he said.
“I believe mine didn’t come, or my career didn’t come on a silver platter, you know,” Shatta Wale added.
According to the musician, while some people may have experienced a smoother journey in their music careers, his own path involved confronting difficulties along the way.
“I believe some people have, you know, the smooth way of, you know, doing their music and could do stuff, you know, but I believe mine came with, you know, fights, you know, wars,” he said.
Shatta Wale likened his approach to surviving and navigating the Ghanaian music industry to that of action-film characters known for resilience and combat.
“I’m like Rambo or Commando in the Ghana music industry,” he said.
