A group of business executives have donated relief items to more than 1,000 residents affected by the recent flooding in the Klottey Korle Constituency of the Greater Accra Region.
The initiative, led by the Chief Executive Officer of the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA) and Vice Chairman of the Klottey Korle Constituency, Julius Neequaye Kotey, saw the distribution of essential items including food supplies, mattresses and clothing to affected households.
The delegation, which included business leaders such as Olabisi Brimah, Sahadatu Abubakar, Hajia Zanua, Maame Ekua Ephraim and Emmanuel Ashaley Tetteh, visited affected communities to assess the impact of the floods and provide immediate support to residents.
Speaking during the relief exercise, Mr. Kotey said the intervention was a demonstration of the private sector’s responsibility to support communities during difficult times.
He noted that although the support provided may not address the full extent of the challenges faced by flood victims, it was aimed at providing immediate relief and comfort to families who had lost access to basic necessities.
“In times of crisis, it is our duty to stand with our community,” Mr. Kotey said, adding that witnessing the resilience of affected residents reinforced the need for collective action.
The recent floods left several families in Klottey Korle displaced, with many losing personal belongings and facing difficulties securing shelter and essential supplies.
Mr. Kotey also expressed optimism about ongoing government efforts to address the recurring flooding situation, commending President John Dramani Mahama’s commitment to supporting affected communities and finding lasting solutions.
He stressed the importance of collaboration between government and corporate institutions in tackling flood-related challenges and improving urban resilience.
Members of the executive group encouraged other corporate bodies and individuals to support relief efforts as affected communities begin the process of recovery and rebuilding.
