The Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA) has inaugurated a new office in Salaga to provide easier access to vehicle registration and licensing services for residents in the East Gonja, North East Gonja, Kpandai, Yeji and surrounding districts.
The opening of the facility forms part of the Authority’s efforts to expand its national footprint and improve service delivery by bringing its services closer to customers.
The DVLA is expected to open four additional offices in Yendi, Navrongo, Nalerigu and Tumu, while a sod-cutting ceremony will also be held in Bole for the construction of another office.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, the Paramount Chief of the Kpembe Traditional Area, Kpembewura Banbagne Ndefeso IV, commended the DVLA for its efforts to modernise vehicle registration and improve compliance among vehicle and motorcycle owners.
He described the Authority’s new number plate registration scheme as innovative and expressed confidence that it would be successfully implemented to benefit Ghanaians.
The Kpembewura said the establishment of the Salaga office would end the difficulties residents faced travelling long distances to Tamale, Bole or Wa to access DVLA services.
He encouraged vehicle owners, particularly motorbike riders, to take advantage of the new facility and ensure their vehicles are properly registered.
The Chief Executive Officer of the DVLA, Julius Neequaye Kotey, cautioned the public against relying on unapproved agents and engaging in fraudulent registration activities.
He said the Authority was committed to expanding its offices across the country to address challenges associated with vehicle registration processes.
“We have opened over 20 offices since 2025 and hope to open at least 50 by 2028.
We remain committed to bringing our offices to your doorsteps to ensure easy access,” he said.
The Member of Parliament for Salaga South, Hajia Zuweira Ibrahima, expressed appreciation to the DVLA for responding to calls for the establishment of an office in the area.
She noted that the facility would not only provide convenience for customers but also create employment opportunities for residents.
“ We are not only bringing these offices, we are bringing relief and jobs to the people,” she said.
