Ghana has expressed deep concern over the ongoing conflict in Sudan between the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), which has triggered a humanitarian crisis, claiming lives and displacing millions.
In a statement dated Monday, November 3, 2025, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs called for an immediate and unconditional cessation of all military operations in Sudan.
The government urged the creation of safe corridors for humanitarian aid and stressed the need for strict adherence to international humanitarian law to protect civilians, aid workers, and medical personnel.
The statement emphasized the urgency of returning to negotiations to establish a civilian-led transitional government. Ghana also called on regional and international actors to stop providing support that fuels the conflict and to fully comply with the UN arms embargo on Darfur.
“Ghana stands in solidarity with the people of Sudan and reiterates its unwavering commitment to peace, stability, and democratic governance across the African continent,” the statement said.
“There is no military solution to this crisis, and therefore calls for an immediate, complete and unconditional halt to all military operations nationwide.”
The government urged the African Union, the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD), and other stakeholders to intensify diplomatic efforts to facilitate a peaceful resolution, underscoring Ghana’s commitment to supporting initiatives aimed at long-term stability in Sudan.
