The Minister for Energy and Green Transition, John Abdulai Jinapor, has praised the management of the Tema Oil Refinery(TOR) for what he describes as significant progress in restoring financial discipline, operational stability and regulatory compliance at the facility.
In a Facebook post on June 30, 2026, the Minister said the development followed the refinery’s Annual General Meeting (AGM), where nine years of audited financial statements covering 2017 to 2025 were presented.
He described the milestone as an important step in strengthening transparency and rebuilding public confidence in one of Ghana’s key strategic energy assets.
Dr. Jinapor commended the Board, Managing Director Edmond Kombat, management and staff of TOR for their efforts in driving reforms and improving performance at the refinery.
He also expressed optimism about the facility’s operational recovery, citing the resumption of refining activities after maintenance works on the Crude Distillation Unit.
According to him, the government remains committed to supporting TOR’s modernisation, recapitalisation and long-term expansion as part of efforts to strengthen Ghana’s energy security.
The Minister further stressed that a functional and efficient national refinery is critical to reducing dependence on imported petroleum products, creating jobs and adding value to Ghana’s crude oil resources.
