National Chairmanship hopeful of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), Paul Afoko, has called for unity and reconciliation within the party, warning that internal divisions could hinder efforts to regain political power.
Speaking at the official launch of his campaign and the unveiling of his vision for the party on Tuesday, July 14, Mr. Afoko said rebuilding trust and addressing grievances among party members would be critical to restoring public confidence in the NPP.
He argued that a divided party would face difficulties in winning future elections, stressing the need to resolve internal conflicts and reconnect with members who feel sidelined or neglected.
According to Mr. Afoko, the NPP must create an environment where all members feel valued and ensure that internal contests do not weaken the party’s organisational structures.
He called for a renewed commitment to the party’s founding values, including respect, discipline, tolerance, service and loyalty, which he said have been central to the NPP’s political identity.
Mr. Afoko said his decision to contest the National Chairmanship position was motivated by a desire to unite the party rather than promote the interests of any particular faction or group.
He pledged to work with members across different generations, regions and ideological backgrounds to rebuild confidence, strengthen cohesion and prepare the party for future electoral battles.
