The Central Regional Minister, Ekow Panyin Okyere Eduamoah, has led the Regional Coordinating Council (RCC) and other stakeholders in a clean-up exercise as part of President John Dramani Mahama’s directive for a two-day national sanitation exercise following recent flooding across the country.
The exercise saw officials cleaning the premises of the Regional Coordinating Council and other public institutions in the region as part of efforts to improve sanitation and reduce the risk of future disasters.
Mr Eduamoah urged residents across the region to actively participate in the clean-up exercise, stressing that maintaining clean communities is essential to preventing disasters that could endanger lives and property.
The Cape Coast Metropolitan Assembly also joined the exercise, with the Mayor of Cape Coast, Mr George Justice Arthur, leading Assembly staff and other participants in cleaning various areas within the metropolis.
The Assembly provided sanitation equipment, including wheelbarrows, shovels, Wellington boots and brooms, to support the exercise.
During the operation, items belonging to some traders who defied directives by operating shops and selling during the exercise were confiscated for further action.
Meanwhile, Zoomlion Ghana Limited supported the clean-up by providing personnel and logistics to assist with waste collection and the evacuation of refuse containers across the metropolis.
