One person has died following a road crash at Gomoa Ankamu near Apam Junction in the Central Region.
This was announced by the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) in a statement detailing the incident.
According to the Service, the Apam Fire Station received a distress call on Saturday, April 18, 2026, at about 6:40 p.m. and responded swiftly to the scene.

“The firefighters on arrival at the scene observed the accident involved a KIA Picanto (GW 8314-21) and Hyundai Rhino (GJ 823-21) at Gomoa Ankamu,” the statement said.
Firefighters managed to rescue one victim who was trapped in the smaller vehicle, but he did not survive.
“The firefighters rescued one casualty who was trapped in the KIA Picanto and was transported to Saint Luke Hospital by the Ambulance Service. Unfortunately, he was pronounced dead on arrival,” it added.

An eyewitness account indicated that the crash occurred when one of the vehicles attempted a risky manoeuvre.
“The Hyundai Rhino, which was heading towards Winneba, attempted to overtake another vehicle at high speed, lost control, and collided with the Kia Picanto, which was heading towards Cape Coast,” the statement noted.
