The Ghana Football Association (GFA) and the Ministry of Sports and Recreation have constituted a five-member Search Committee to oversee the recruitment of a new head coach for the senior national team, the Black Stars.
The decision followed a meeting between the leadership of the GFA and the Ministry in Accra on Friday, October 2, 2026.
The committee will be chaired by former Ghana Football Association Vice-President Fred Pappoe, who will lead the process of identifying and evaluating candidates for the vacant coaching position.
He will be supported by four other members: General Secretary of the Professional Footballers Association of Ghana (PFAG) and former Ghana international Anthony Baffoe; legal practitioner and football administrator Agbesi Dzakpasu; former Black Stars captain Stephen Appiah; and High-Performance Specialist Faisal Chibsah.
Under its terms of reference, the committee is expected to identify, assess and recommend a suitable candidate for the Black Stars coaching role.
The committee will subsequently submit its report and recommendation to the Ghana Football Association for consideration.
The Black Stars coaching position became vacant on Thursday, October 1, 2026, following the resignation of Portuguese coach Carlos Queiroz after the September international window.
The GFA and the Ministry of Sports and Recreation said the recruitment process would be transparent and merit-based, with the objective of securing a coach to lead the national team in its upcoming assignments.
