The Northern Regional Police Command has confirmed the deaths of three siblings whose bodies were found in the boot of a vehicle at Koblimahagu Zoo in the Tamale Metropolis.
The incident reportedly occurred after the three children left home at about 8:00 a.m. on Sunday, October 4, 2026, to attend Islamic classes but failed to return.
According to the police, in a statement signed by the Northern Regional Police Commander, DCOP Wisdom Lavoe, investigations are underway to establish the circumstances surrounding the deaths.
“The outcome of the autopsy and ongoing investigations is expected to provide further information on the circumstances surrounding the deaths,” the police said.
The deceased have been identified as three-year-old Dauda Abdul Aziz, five-year-old Saani Alsharaf and seven-year-old Dauda Fadilan.
A search by community members continued until about 5:00 a.m. on Monday, October 5, when the bodies were discovered in the boot of a black Hyundai Tucson with registration number AS 1770-14.
Police said the vehicle was found stuck in mud on a road leading to the area.

A preliminary inspection showed that the driver’s door and the rear passenger door behind the driver’s seat were open, while the other doors, including the boot, were locked.
The vehicle has been linked by preliminary police investigations to a personnel of the Ghana Immigration Service, who told investigators that it had been stuck in the mud for about five days.
The owner has since been arrested to assist with investigations.
The Inspector-General of Police has also deployed a special team comprising homicide investigators, crime scene experts and intelligence officers to Tamale to support the ongoing investigation.
The vehicle has been secured for further forensic examination.
The Northern Regional Police Command said all necessary investigative steps are being taken to determine what led to the deaths and urged the public to remain calm as investigations continue.
“We assure the public that all necessary investigative steps are being taken to determine the circumstances that led to the deaths of the three children. We therefore urge the public to remain calm as investigations continue. Any further updates will be communicated.”
Police have not yet publicly disclosed the cause of death of the three siblings.
