The Ministry of Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs has announced a special contra-traffic arrangement for Aayalolo BRT buses on three major high-traffic corridors in Accra.
The arrangement is scheduled to take effect from Tuesday, September 29, 2026, as part of measures to ease congestion and improve the movement of passengers during peak periods.
According to the Ministry, the intervention will cover the Amasaman–Accra, Adenta–Accra and Kasoa–Accra corridors.
The special arrangement will give Aayalolo buses priority on the designated routes, allowing them to move more efficiently through areas experiencing heavy traffic.
The Ministry said the initiative forms part of ongoing efforts to improve public transport services and reduce the impact of traffic congestion on commuters.
It is expected to facilitate faster movement for passengers who rely on the Aayalolo Quality Bus Service, particularly during peak travel periods.
The contra-traffic arrangement will also support efforts to encourage the use of public transportation as authorities seek more efficient ways of managing traffic congestion in the capital.
