The Deputy Minister for Transport, Dorcas Affo-Toffey, has launched the J.K. Horgle Transport and Logistics Centre at the University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA), in a move aimed at strengthening education, research and industry collaboration in Ghana’s transport sector.
The centre is expected to serve as a hub for advancing transport and logistics training, research and innovation while promoting stronger partnerships between academia and industry players.
Speaking at the launch, Ms. Affo-Toffey described the initiative as a significant milestone in efforts to develop a more professional, efficient and research-driven transport and logistics sector.
She said the establishment of the centre reflects a shared commitment to building capacity, promoting innovation and equipping professionals with the knowledge and skills required to address emerging challenges in the transport industry.
According to her, collaboration between government, academic institutions and industry stakeholders remains critical to creating a modern transport system capable of supporting economic growth and national development.
The J.K. Horgle Transport and Logistics Centre will focus on research, knowledge development and practical solutions to improve logistics management and transport operations in Ghana.
The initiative forms part of broader efforts to strengthen the country’s transport ecosystem through investment in education, technology and professional development.
