The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for the Awutu Senya East Municipal Assembly, Seth Banini, has received a delegation of chiefs and queenmothers from the Awutu Paramountcy who formally announced the passing of the Paramount Chief and President of the Awutu Traditional Council, Nai Abokuoade Agyemang Wyette.
According to the traditional leaders, the revered chief passed away a few months ago following a short illness.
The delegation paid a courtesy call on the MCE to officially communicate the sad news and brief the Assembly on developments within the traditional area following the demise of the paramount ruler.
Responding to the announcement, Mr. Banini conveyed his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family, the Awutu Paramountcy, and the entire traditional council on behalf of President John Dramani Mahama, the Member of Parliament for Awutu Senya East, Phillis Naa Koryoo Okunor, the National Democratic Congress (NDC), and the Government of Ghana.
He assured the delegation of the Assembly’s unwavering support during the mourning period and pledged the government’s readiness to provide the necessary assistance as preparations for the funeral and other related arrangements commence.
“We extend our deepest condolences to the bereaved family and the Awutu Paramountcy during this difficult period.
We stand ready to offer physical, emotional and any other support required as we await details of the funeral arrangements from the family,” he stated.
The MCE also acknowledged the immense contribution of the late Nai Abokuoade Agyemang Wyette to the development and unity of the Awutu traditional area and described his passing as a significant loss to the municipality.
Joining Mr. Banini in receiving the delegation were the Awutu Senya East Constituency Vice Chairman of the NDC, Alhaji Osman Abdella; the MCE’s Chief of Staff, Rahman Ohene Demi; and legal counsel, Lawyer Amissah.
Following the official announcement, the Awutu Senya Traditional flag has been lowered to half-mast in honour of the late Paramount Chief as the traditional area begins preparations for his final rites.
