President John Dramani Mahama on Wednesday, February 18, 2026, visited two victims of the recent Burkina Faso terrorist attack currently admitted at the 37 Military Hospital in Accra.

The victims were among Ghanaian tomato traders traveling in a truck that was ambushed by armed bandits. The attackers reportedly separated the men, killed several, and set the vehicle on fire.

Earlier, President Mahama had condemned the attack, describing it as a stark reminder of the persistent security threats in West Africa and warning that such incidents endanger regional trade and economic activities.

Accompanied by Chief of Staff Julius Debrah, the President comforted the survivors and assured them that the government would cover all medical expenses arising from the incident.

Although he had been on official duties in Takoradi earlier in the day, President Mahama made an immediate detour to the hospital upon returning to Accra to hear firsthand accounts of the tragedy.

The seven Ghanaians who lost their lives have been laid to rest, while the survivors have been safely transported home with support from the Ghana Armed Forces. Counseling and medical care continue for all affected.
