Leading member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and former Deputy Director-General of the Ghana Education Service (GES), Dr. K.B Tandoh, has initiated efforts to unite the party in the Asunafo North Constituency following the conclusion of recent constituency elections.
At a reconciliation meeting held at his residence in Goaso on Saturday, Dr. Tandoh hosted the newly elected Constituency Chairman, Frank Owusu Afriyie, popularly known as “Chairman Chemicals,” and his contender, Francis Kwaku Agyeman-Duah, as part of efforts to foster unity and strengthen the party ahead of the 2028 general elections.
Dr. Tandoh said while competitive internal elections are a hallmark of a vibrant democratic party, the ability to transition from competition to cooperation is what ultimately strengthens the NPP.
He stressed that the party’s overriding objective is to build a united and formidable front capable of recapturing power in the 2028 polls.
The reconciliation process received a significant boost with the involvement of former President John Agyekum Kufuor, who joined the discussions and urged both leaders to place the interests of the NPP above personal and factional considerations.
According to Dr. Tandoh, the former President’s fatherly advice and call for unity have provided a clear direction for the constituency as it seeks to move beyond the elections and focus on development and party rebuilding.
He commended both Frank Owusu Afriyie and Francis Kwaku Agyeman-Duah for demonstrating maturity, mutual respect and a shared commitment to the progress of the constituency.
“The election is over; the work of building a prosperous Asunafo North begins now,” Dr. Tandoh stated, expressing optimism that a united front would position the constituency and the party strongly ahead of the next general elections.
