The acting Minister for Defence and Minister for Finance, Dr Cassiel Ato Forson, joined personnel of the Ghana Armed Forces and staff of the Ministries of Defence and Finance in the first day of the National Cleaning Exercise aimed at improving sanitation and reducing flood risks across the country.
The exercise forms part of the nationwide two-day clean-up campaign initiated by President John Dramani Mahama in the aftermath of the recent flooding that affected several communities, particularly in the Greater Accra Region.
Dr Forson commended the participation of the security services and public sector workers, describing the exercise as an important national effort to restore cleanliness and promote healthier communities.
He urged Ghanaians to sustain the momentum by actively participating in the second day of the exercise and contributing to efforts to keep their communities clean and safe.
According to the acting Defence Minister, maintaining a clean environment is a shared responsibility that requires the commitment of all citizens.
“A cleaner Ghana begins with each of us,” he stated, encouraging individuals, institutions and communities to support the national sanitation drive.
