A woman and two children have been confirmed dead after they were swept away by floodwaters at Dome following heavy rainfall that triggered widespread flooding across parts of the Greater Accra Region.
The victims’ bodies were recovered after floodwaters inundated sections of the community.
Their identities have not yet been officially released by the authorities.
The latest fatalities add to the growing toll from the flooding, which followed hours of torrential rain that left several communities across the capital submerged.
Among the hardest-hit areas were Alajo, Kaneshie, Adabraka, Weija, and sections of the Mallam–Kasoa Highway, where floodwaters inundated roads, stranded motorists, and caused major traffic disruptions.
The floods also submerged homes, damaged vehicles and other property, and forced many residents to seek safer ground as water levels continued to rise.
Emergency responders have urged residents living in flood-prone communities to evacuate to higher ground whenever water levels become dangerous and to avoid attempting to walk or drive through flooded streets.
The Presidency has also appealed to the public to remain vigilant, comply with official safety directives, and call the national emergency number 112 in the event of flood-related emergencies.
Meanwhile, the Ghana Meteorological Agency (GMet) has warned that heavy rainfall is expected to persist in parts of the country this week, raising concerns about the possibility of further flooding in vulnerable communities.
