Ministry of Foreign Affairs has denied claims that Ghanaian Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA) staff will travel abroad to provide licensing services.
This was announced in a press statement issued on February 26, 2026, following circulating reports suggesting the service would extend to countries including the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, and Germany.
According to the Ministry, “The Ministry has neither issued a directive to our diplomatic missions abroad nor granted approval to any entity for such an arrangement,” clarifying that there is no official policy supporting overseas DVLA operations.
The clarification comes after comments by DVLA Chief Executive Julius Neequaye Kotey on February 25, 2026, that were widely misinterpreted, stating staff would travel to the diaspora. The Ministry emphasized that no formal engagement, financial commitment, or policy implementation has occurred.
Officials reassured the public that Ghana remains committed to transparency and prudent management of public resources, urging citizens to rely only on verified information from official sources.
