A 61-year-old woman has successfully delivered a healthy baby girl at Mary Lucy Hospital after undergoing an advanced assisted reproductive treatment using the hospital’s Stem Cell-Enhanced In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) procedure.
The baby was delivered through a successful Caesarean Section conducted by the hospital’s obstetric team, led by Dr. Davies and Dr. Asamoah. Both mother and child are reported to be in stable condition and recovering well.
The hospital described the achievement as a significant milestone in reproductive medicine, given the mother’s age and the complex nature of the fertility treatment involved.
According to Mary Lucy Hospital, the successful outcome highlights the expanding possibilities of modern assisted reproductive technologies in supporting individuals and couples facing fertility challenges.
The hospital’s Stem Cell-Enhanced IVF programme combines conventional IVF techniques with regenerative medicine approaches designed to improve reproductive outcomes for carefully selected patients.
Management of the facility commended the medical team for their professionalism, expertise and dedication throughout the patient’s fertility treatment, pregnancy and delivery.
The hospital stated that the achievement reflects its commitment to advancing reproductive healthcare through innovation, clinical excellence and patient-focused care.
“While this represents an extraordinary case, every fertility treatment is unique, and patient suitability is determined through comprehensive medical evaluation,” the hospital noted.
Mary Lucy Hospital further explained that factors such as maternal age, general health condition and other medical considerations are carefully assessed before recommending assisted reproductive procedures.
The facility cautioned that outcomes vary among patients and emphasized that the case should not be viewed as a typical expectation for women of similar age.
