Spotify has been announced as the official sponsor and exclusive streaming partner of Afro Nation Portugal 2026, marking a new collaboration aimed at bringing fans closer to African music, artists and festival experiences beyond the live event.
Under the partnership, Spotify will launch a dedicated Afro Nation hub on its platform, giving users access to official festival playlists, featured artists, exclusive performance videos and on-demand content captured during the event.
The collaboration builds on Afro Nation’s long-standing mission of promoting Afrobeats and African music on the global stage while reinforcing Spotify’s commitment to supporting African artists and expanding their international reach.
Scheduled to take place from July 3 to 5, 2026, in Portimão, Portugal, Afro Nation has become one of the world’s premier festivals celebrating African music and culture, attracting thousands of fans from across the globe.
Speaking on the partnership, Spotify’s Content Marketing Manager for Sub-Saharan Africa, Rifumo Mdaka, described Afro Nation as more than just a music festival.
“Afro Nation is a global expression of African music, fan culture and creative influence.
Through this partnership, we are creating a space where fans can continue to connect with the artists, performances and stories that define the festival long after the final performance,” he said.
Spotify noted that the partnership forms part of its broader investment in African music through artist discovery, playlist curation, live performance content and fan engagement initiatives.
The streaming platform will also document the journey of a selected fan travelling to the festival, highlighting the growing global community around African music.
Director of Global Partnerships at The Malachite Group and Afro Nation, Clémence Blum, said the collaboration represents an important milestone in expanding the festival’s impact beyond the live experience.
She noted that Afro Nation has always served as a platform for celebrating African music, supporting emerging artists and connecting audiences worldwide, adding that the partnership with Spotify would offer fans new and immersive ways to engage with the music they love.
As part of the agreement, selected performances from Afro Nation Portugal 2026 will be made available exclusively on Spotify after the festival, allowing audiences around the world to relive the event and discover new African talent.
