The Ministry of Energy and Green Transition has joined the nationwide Two-Day National General Cleaning Exercise aimed at restoring environmental sanitation in the aftermath of the recent floods that affected several parts of the country.
Led by the Minister for Energy and Green Transition, Dr. John Abdulai Jinapor, staff of the Ministry participated in the exercise in line with the directive issued by President John Dramani Mahama for public institutions to support the national clean-up campaign.
The initiative forms part of government’s coordinated efforts to clear flood debris, improve sanitation conditions and reduce the risk of future flooding in vulnerable communities.
Officials of the Ministry noted that the exercise served as a reminder that environmental protection and sanitation are collective responsibilities that require the active participation of all citizens and institutions.
The Ministry also encouraged members of the public to participate in the second day of the exercise in their respective communities to support efforts to restore clean and safe surroundings.
According to the Ministry, maintaining cleanliness should not be limited to national exercises but should become a daily habit and an integral part of community life.
The nationwide clean-up campaign was announced by government following the devastating floods of June 29, 2026, which affected several communities across the country and caused extensive damage to homes, businesses and public infrastructure.
