The Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) has reminded importers that a number of products are not eligible for storage under the country’s Customs Bonded Warehousing regime.
In a public notice, the Authority cautioned businesses and importers planning to bring in these products in bulk to take note of the restrictions, stressing that the listed items cannot be warehoused under the existing customs regulations.
According to the GRA, the goods that are prohibited from bonded warehousing include ethanol, tomato paste, cooking oil, canned drinks, canned fish, and lead-acid batteries.
The Authority explained that importers intending to trade in these products must make the necessary arrangements, as they do not qualify for storage in bonded warehouses under the Customs Bonded Warehousing regime.
The GRA urged importers and clearing agents to familiarise themselves with the regulations governing bonded warehousing to avoid delays, additional costs, or potential breaches of customs procedures.
The Authority further encouraged stakeholders in the import and logistics sector to comply fully with customs requirements to facilitate efficient trade and ensure adherence to Ghana’s import regulations.
