The Ghana Enterprises Agency (GEA), together with a delegation from the United States Virgin Islands Economic Development Authority (USVI EDA), has held strategic discussions with the Minister for Energy and Green Transition, Dr. John Abdulai Jinapor, on advancing value addition to Ghana’s crude oil for the domestic market.
The engagement focused on exploring opportunities for collaboration in energy, industrialisation and local value addition as part of efforts to strengthen Ghana’s energy sector and accelerate sustainable economic growth.
The discussions highlighted the importance of refining and processing Ghana’s crude oil locally to reduce the country’s dependence on imported refined petroleum products and retain more economic value within the domestic economy.
Participants also underscored the potential of local value addition to create quality jobs, improve energy security and stimulate industrial growth.
The USVI EDA delegation, a partner agency of the Ghana Enterprises Agency, expressed interest in deepening cooperation with Ghana in areas that support industrial transformation and investment promotion.
The Ghana Enterprises Agency reaffirmed its commitment to forging strategic partnerships aimed at attracting investment, supporting industrialisation and creating sustainable opportunities for Ghanaian businesses to innovate, grow and compete effectively.
