The Ghana Cocoa Board (COCOBOD) has reaffirmed its commitment to preserving Ghana’s cultural heritage and strengthening its relationship with traditional authorities by participating in the 2026 Ohumkan Festival celebrations in Kyebi in the Eastern Region.
A delegation from COCOBOD, led by Deputy Chief Executive in charge of Agronomy and Quality Control, Dr. Francis Baah, joined the chiefs and people of the Akyem Abuakwa Traditional Area for the festival and paid a courtesy call on the Okyehene, Osagyefuo Nana Amoatia Ofori Panin II, during the grand durbar.
The visit formed part of efforts by COCOBOD to deepen its partnership with traditional leaders and acknowledge their role in supporting Ghana’s cocoa sector and community development initiatives.
Ahead of the festival celebrations, the Deputy Executive Director in charge of Coffee, Shea and Cashew at the Cocoa Research Institute of Ghana (CRIG), Dr. Esther Gyedu Akoto, led a team to visit a number of traditional rulers within the municipality to convey COCOBOD’s goodwill messages and reaffirm the institution’s commitment to supporting local communities.
As part of the festivities, COCOBOD presented customary items to the Okyehene and other chiefs in recognition of their leadership and longstanding collaboration with the cocoa sector.
