The Chief of Kwahu Odaa, Nana Amakye Appah, together with commercial drivers and residents in the Kwahu West Municipality, has appealed to the government and relevant authorities to urgently rehabilitate the Fodoa–Kwahu Odaa–Awiregya road, citing its deteriorating condition and the challenges it poses to transportation and economic activities.
The road, which serves as a vital link for several communities in the area, has become a source of concern for residents, traditional leaders and motorists who depend on it for their daily activities.
Commercial drivers operating along the stretch say the deplorable state of the road has resulted in frequent vehicle breakdowns, increased maintenance expenses and higher transport fares, placing additional financial burdens on both transport operators and passengers.
According to the drivers, the situation becomes even more difficult during the rainy season when sections of the road become nearly impassable, disrupting the movement of commuters, traders and other road users.
Residents have also raised concerns about the impact of the poor road network on local economic activities.
They noted that farmers in particular face significant challenges transporting their produce to market centres, leading to delays, increased costs and, in some cases, post-harvest losses.
Speaking on the issue, Nana Amakye Appah described the condition of the road as alarming and called on the government to prioritise its rehabilitation to improve transportation and support economic growth in the area.
He stressed that fixing the road would not only enhance mobility for residents but also facilitate trade and agricultural activities, which remain key sources of livelihood for many people in the municipality.
